The Chatham Health District is a non-profit governmental organization that serves the towns of Colchester, East Hampton, East Haddam, Hebron, Marlborough and Portland Connecticut. As a health district, formed under Connecticut General Statutes Section 19a-241, the CHD is a special unit of government, allowing member municipalities to provide comprehensive public health services to residents in a more efficient manner by consolidating the services within one organization.The Director of Health and staff of the CHD work to promote health and wellness among the residents we serve. By enforcing the Connecticut Public Health Code, conducting health education programs, monitoring disease outbreaks and nurturing our environment, the CHD is focused on promoting healthy communities are one of twenty health districts in the state of Connecticut. Established July 1, 2002. The CHD service area covers approximately 266 square miles and has a population of approximately 70,000. We are governed by the Board of Health, comprised of representatives of the towns we serve.
